Terms of use
Version 0.2.0 · updated 2026-10-05
Draft — to be reviewed by a lawyer before publication. Passages in brackets [to be completed] are waiting for information from the publisher or for a check.
In short
- Steko helps you stick to your goals. You tell it what you want to achieve, Steko builds a plan you can keep and adjusts it every day.
- Steko is not a professional. Not a doctor, financial adviser, lawyer or spiritual guide. The AI's proposals are suggestions, not advice.
- Steko is not an emergency service. If you are in danger or in distress, contact the emergency services of your country.
- You must be 16 or older to use Steko.
- Your content stays yours. We only use it to run the service, as the privacy policy explains.
- Paid plans are not open yet. When they are, the price, the duration, any trial and how to stop will be shown before any payment.
- You can leave whenever you want, taking your data with you or deleting your account.
Who we are, and what you agree to
Steko is published by Jean-Paul ADOGLI, an individual, sole publisher based in Togo (postal address: [to be completed]; email: adoglijeanpaul@gmail.com; website: steko.app). There is no publishing company at this time. By using Steko, you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, do not use the app. They are read together with the privacy policy.
These terms exist in French and English. If the two versions differ, the version in the language you use in the app prevails.
The service
Steko turns your goals into a daily plan and offers actions, check-ins, notifications, an encrypted journal, a conversation with an AI assistant and progress tracking. Some features are free; others will be part of a paid plan ("Pro") once it opens. The service evolves: a feature may change or disappear, and we tell you when it really affects you.
Your account and your age
You start with an anonymous session. You can create an account to save your plan. You must be 16 or older and you confirm this at first launch; we do not ask for your date of birth. Under 18, no paid plan without the agreement of a parent or legal guardian. You are responsible for keeping your access confidential. The information you give must be accurate. If you declared an inaccurate age, we may close your account.
Using Steko properly
You agree not to: try to access other people's data; bypass the app's security, usage limits or verification; use the service to harm others, send illegal or abusive content, or automate requests in bulk; reverse-engineer the app's code or models, except to the extent the law allows.
Artificial intelligence: its limits
The assistant relies on a generative AI model, run by a provider that processes your texts outside the European Union (see the privacy policy). You are talking to a machine.
- Its answers may be inaccurate, incomplete or unsuitable. Check what matters.
- Steko does not give medical, legal, financial, tax or spiritual advice. Suggestions about sleep, physical activity or weight do not replace a health professional. Steko favours no religion or belief: it helps you keep the practices you choose yourself.
- Steko is not an emergency service and does not monitor your condition. If you are in danger or in distress, contact the emergency services or someone close to you in your country.
- You always decide: you accept, edit or refuse each proposal.
Your content
What you write, say or import (story, goals, notes, journal) remains yours. You only grant us the right to process it to run Steko for you: store it, analyse it with the AI if you agreed, display it. This licence ends when you delete the content or your account. You warrant that you have the right to share what you write. If you take part in an interview or send an idea, we may use it to improve Steko, without owing you anything in return and without identifying you.
Journal
The journal is encrypted on your phone and is not backed up by Steko: if you lose or reset your phone, it is lost. An encrypted backup may be offered later; its conditions will then be set out here and in the privacy policy before it goes live.
Paid plans, trial and subscription
Paid plans are not open at the date of these terms. The following rules will apply as soon as they are, and will be completed before then [to be completed: prices by region].
- Pro plan: price (including taxes where the law requires), duration, any trial period and renewal are shown before payment, in your local currency where the store allows.
- Free trial: if a trial is offered, we tell you before it starts how long it lasts, the price that will then apply and the date the paid subscription will begin. You can cancel before that date without paying anything.
- Payment: through the app store (Google Play, App Store) or, depending on your country, by mobile money. The store's or provider's rules also apply. The store is then solely responsible for payment and billing.
- Renewal and cancellation: the subscription renews automatically until you cancel it, by a means as simple as the one used to subscribe. For a store purchase, you cancel in the store's settings; for another payment method, how to cancel is shown before payment. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the paid period. Where the law requires it, we remind you of the renewal before it happens.
- Withdrawal and refunds: in the European Union and the United Kingdom, you have 14 days to withdraw from a subscription, unless you asked for immediate access to the digital content and acknowledged, before purchase, that you lose this right (in that case a partial refund may apply where the law provides for it). Elsewhere, refunds follow the store's rules and the law of your country. Store purchases are refunded by the store.
- Prices and taxes: we may change a price for the future, with notice before your next renewal, and you can cancel before it applies.
- End of the subscription: your data is never held hostage: you can continue with the free features, export your data or delete your account.
Availability
We do what is needed to keep Steko running, but we do not promise uninterrupted service. Core features work offline; the AI and synchronisation need a network. Maintenance or outages may occur.
Intellectual property
Steko, its code, design, texts, brand and logo belong to the publisher or its licensors. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the app for your personal use, under these terms. Open-source components keep their own licences.
Suspension and termination
You can stop at any time and delete your account from the app or the web. We may suspend or close an account in the event of a serious breach of these terms, abuse or a legal obligation, explaining why where the law permits. We may also end the service, with reasonable notice and, for a current subscription, a refund of the unused paid period. Even if an account is closed, you can export your data where technically possible.
Warranties and liability
Steko is provided "as is", with no guarantee of results: it helps you keep your goals, but cannot make you reach them. To the extent permitted by law, the publisher is not liable for indirect damage or for decisions you make based on the AI's suggestions. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits what the law does not allow to be excluded: fraud, gross negligence, personal injury, or the mandatory consumer rights of your country (for example the conformity of digital content or services).
Governing law and disputes
We prefer to settle a disagreement amicably: write to us first at adoglijeanpaul@gmail.com; we answer within a reasonable time. Failing agreement:
- If you are a consumer, you keep the benefit of the mandatory protection rules of the country where you live and may bring proceedings before the courts of that country. Subject to this, these terms are governed by Togolese law, the publisher's country of establishment [to be validated by a lawyer].
- Otherwise, Togolese law applies and the courts of Togo have jurisdiction [to be validated by a lawyer].
You may also use any out-of-court settlement mechanism (consumer mediation) provided by the law of your country.
Depending on your country
- European Union and United Kingdom: consumer rights on digital content and services (conformity, remedy for defects), right of withdrawal described above.
- California and the United States: the mandatory automatic-renewal and easy-cancellation notices apply; our data rights are in the privacy policy.
- Brazil, Nigeria, Kenya, Ghana, Canada, Côte d'Ivoire, Senegal: local consumer and data protection laws continue to protect you; the privacy policy details the authorities you can contact.
- Togo: the publisher is established there; Togolese law applies to the publisher as stated above.
Changes to these terms
Each version has a number and a date. For an important change, Steko announces it in the app before it takes effect, with a clear summary, and asks you to accept it; until you do, your data stays yours and accessible, and you can export it or delete your account. If you do not accept, you can stop using Steko; a current paid subscription can then be cancelled at no cost. A minor change is flagged once. Previous versions remain available.
